Melbourne-based interior designer Glen Lewis-Steele has reinvented the lighting design concept, creating a new product called “Lee Lights”. These lamps aren’t just stylish: they create an incredible optical illusion.
As you tilt your head or move around a room, the lampshades trick your eyes into seeing bending and shifting cubes. The shades themselves, however, are triangular (a bulb hangs behind three white sheets). There are no mechanics involved: They are made of simple polymer, steel, copper, and a canvas cord. The magic is all in the placement of light. You can read here.
You can find a regular sized lampshade on the designer’s website (selling for $330). Hours of head-tilting entertainment are included in your purchase.
This hanging cube light seemingly reacts as you move around in its presence. It isn’t until
curiosity inevitably draws you around to the rear of the lamp, that you see
its true shape. Available in three sizes, each come with ceiling rose, 1.5m of canvas cord, copper socket, LED bulb and a horizontal adapter that allows for your own choice of an alternative socket/bulb. ISN’T THIS INCREDIBLE?! We think it is.
